One of the most important aspects of the healing process is your experience of feeling safe. My goal as your therapist is to be a safe person in your life who you can feel deeply known and understood by.
Many of my clients find that teletherapy enhances their experience of feeling safe because they are able to heal and process difficult topics in a familiar space that they are comfortable in. Rather than walking into an office space that you are unfamiliar with, through teletherapy, you become a co-creator of your healing environment.
This is especially helpful if you are working through trauma. Teletherapy empowers you to not only create a safe space, but also surround yourself with sensory elements that help you feel grounded. This might mean diffusing essential oils, sipping on a warm cup of tea, or having your pet by your side as we explore the vulnerable parts of your story.
What is online therapy like?
Virtual therapy can be just as effective as therapy in person. In fact, some people find it to be more effective because they are able to heal in a space that is comfortable and familiar to them.
In our online sessions, I will support you using a HIPPA compliant video platform called Therapy Notes, which protects your privacy and confidentiality.
Building a trusting relationship with your therapist is one of the most important aspects of the healing process and it can happen as easily online as in person. Even though we will not be meeting in person, you will feel as if we have!
I use a variety of approaches to support your healing process, and all of the modalities I use can be done effectively through our video sessions. Approaches such as narrative therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), mindfulness, grounding, somatic work, and containment techniques have been effective and offered positive results for my clients over video.
