Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
Finding a therapist that you feel safe to be vulnerable with is crucial for the healing process. I always encourage clients to do a phone consultation with me prior to scheduling their first session. During this phone consultation, you will get a sense for what it would be like to work with me. We can discuss your needs and see if they align with my areas expertise. If by the end of the phone consultation you feel seen, safe, and connected, that is a good sign that we will be a good fit.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance at this time. However, if you receive out-of-network benefits through your insurance, I can offer you an appropriate receipt for reimbursement from your insurance company if applicable.
NOTE: I am not a Medicaid provider and am unable to provide therapeutic services to anyone on Medicaid insurance.
What if I can’t afford your rate?
Don’t let my rate discourage you from reaching out! I offer a sliding scale and am willing to work with you to come up with an acceptable solution. If we are not able to accommodate your financial situation, I will do my best to offer you some referrals who can accommodate your needs. You receiving the quality care that you deserve is my top priority.
How do we get started?
The first step is to schedule a phone consultation by clicking on the “schedule a free phone consultation ” link on my website. This will allow you to select a time and day that are most convenient for you. During our phone consultation, we will discuss your needs, hopes, and any questions you have. After that, if you would like to pursue therapy together, we will schedule your first appointment! I look forward to walking with you!
What is the free phone consultation like?
The phone consultation will be an opportunity for us to meet for 15 minutes and get a feel for whether or not we will be a good fit. We will explore what you are coming to therapy for and I will address any questions or fears you might have about therapy. My hope is that this will provide an opportunity for you to ease your way into the therapeutic process so that you will feel safe, seen, and heard prior to stepping into your first therapy session.
How does your Pay-it-forward Fee work?
As a therapist, balancing my ability to offer a low sliding scale fee to those who need it and my ability to support my own wellbeing as a wife, mom, and therapist is a challenging task. The Pay-it-forward fee enables me to provide quality care at a low cost to those who would not be able to afford therapy while still showing up for my clients as a healthy, present, and competent therapist. If you have the means and would like to join me in making therapy more accessible to people who would not normally be able to afford therapy, let me know!
What COVID-19 precautions are you taking?
Currently, I am doing exclusively online and outdoor sessions.
What will an outdoor session be like?
My nature-based sessions involve meeting at a local park or trail. Nature-based therapy sessions are catered to your physical needs. It may mean sitting by a lake or walking on a path. These sessions provide you with opportunities to engage your senses, surrounded yourself with beauty, and further develop your mind-body connection, while participating in the therapeutic process. Nature offers us with naturally regulating tools through the use of our senses and the movement of our bodies. I find that this is helpful in working with clients who struggle with trauma or anxiety.
